Established in 1990, The Design
School Southern Africa (DSSA) is committed to furthering the Design
education process in South Africa by imparting internationally
accepted philosophies and learning paradigms through the provision
of innovative, creative and challenging teaching techniques in an
environment that ensures and promotes understanding and awareness of
social values and differences.
Highly qualified, experienced and motivated teaching staff of the
highest calibre ensures that curricula are up to date with the
continually changing, leading edge of design developments both in
South Africa and the world at large, and take pride in imparting
this valuable store of knowledge and experience to the learners.
DSSA’s Full Time Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interior Design (SAQA
ID: 87306) is three years in length and covers technological
developments in addition to critical theories. The programme
encourages students to develop a thorough and imaginative approach
to creative problem solving in the context of any human environment.
Through challenging project briefs and well-equipped lectures,
learners are introduced to the applications of Interior Design which
include: drawing, presentation, surveying, material studies,
construction, specifying, context and history of design, draughting
and CAD.
With the emphasis on the design process (research, analysis,
synthesis and evaluation), DSSA’s Interior Design qualification
helps make young talented South African designers more competitive
in a global economy and equips them for progression in the industry.
