The
South African Institute of the Interior Design Professions
(IID) has announced the appointment of a number of
high-profile, industry leading organisations as Founding
Members of the Institute.
The Institute is the only professional
body representing the
Interior Design professions in
South Africa and was
formed through the amalgamation of the South African Guild of
Interior Designers (SAGID) and Design South Africa (DSA).
The Founding Members’ long term financial support and
commitment to the aims and objectives of the IID is seen as
key to the successful establishment and sustainability of the
Institute.
The Founding Members represent various sectors of the Interior
Professions industry including manufacturers, suppliers,
design agencies and educational institutions. Together they
form a collegial body providing high quality products and/or
services as well as maintaining a close professional
relationship with the national community of Interior
Architects, Designers and Decorators.
The following organisations have been appointed:
CN Business Furniture
evolved from Cecil Nurse Business Furniture in 2005,
initiating the shift from a “product only” company, to that of
providing complete office solutions. Not just suppliers of
office furniture, CN, through its vast branch infrastructure
and portfolio of segmented brands and businesses; designs and
enables intelligent, energising workspaces to meet the
challenge of creating efficient yet great places to work.
Decorex SA,
South Africa’s leading Décor and Design exhibition, has been
operating in South Africa for more than 13 years and has
established itself as a respected name and industry leader in
the décor exhibition market.
The Design Partnership,
founded in 1991 to address the joint requirements of
Architecture and Retail Design. The Design Partnership has
since extended its services to include branding and
advertising aka “Brandertising™”
The Greenside Design Centre
celebrates its 20th year of
excellence in design education this year as a
Private Higher Education
Institution offering a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Bachelor of
Arts Honours Degree in Graphic, Interior and Multimedia
design.

is a fully integrated timber and panel business. It has over
45 of some of the most familiar consumer and industrial brands
in the country such as Formica and Supawood.
Plascon Paints SA
is ranked amongst the top
20 paint producers in the world and is the premier
manufacturer and distributor of a renowned range of paints and

Further appointments of Founding Members may still take place.
The commitment and support shown by these Founding Members in
the mandate and vision of the Institute will greatly assist
the IID to achieve its strategic objectives and deliver more
value to its members and the industry. |
