Inscape Graduates Showcase Their Aesthetic Talents - 30 November till 16 December 2011
Final year Interior Design students of Inscape Design College will be exhibiting their dynamic design portfolios at the Freeworld Design Centre in Waterkant Street, Cape Town. The exhibition opens on 30 November with a cheese and wine evening on the rooftop and work will be on display until the 16th December 2011. Works include residential, commercial and sustainable design. The opening is by invitation only however the exhibition is free. This is an ideal opportunity to view the exceptionally high standards and current trends being set by the future generation of interior designers.
The exhibition is intended to introduce the public to the innovative ideas of young up and coming interior designers in Cape Town. Portfolios indicate that the graduates have a clear understanding of the importance of social responsibility, eco-friendly, user centered, aesthetically pleasing design. The final year interior design students have completed six weeks of experiential training at various companies such as DHK Thinkspace, Stefan Antoni, Phase 2 Interiors, MMI, to name but a few. They had the opportunity to show off their abilities in various programs including AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Revit and 3DSMax. As part of their curriculum the students also enter competitions giving them industry exposure while they are studying. One of the students was a finalist at this year’s Design Achiever Awards. These innovative young people are an indication that there is an abundance of local talent right under our noses. |

Are these students passionate about design? Here are some of their thoughts:
“incorporate sensual responses, psychological reactions and feelings and emotions/feel the rhythm of our natural world by bringing the outside in/we must not lose our roots and embed ourselves in the technology without looking at the influence it has on us/greatly inspired by nature/ If one treats each material as an object of art and beauty, then the way you use it within a space allows for a tactile, design experience/design should teach people to care for each other as well as their environment/we are not only problem solvers, but problem identifiers as well.”
About Inscape
Inscape Design College celebrates 30 years of excellence in design education, originating in Johannesburg with branches in Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban. The Cape Town branch is located in the busy suburb of Woodstock in Buchanan Square. It is a private institution offering fully accredited diploma and degree courses in Interior Design, Graphic Design, and launches Fashion Design in 2012. Also on offer are short 6 month and one year practical courses in Architectural Draughting, Interior Decorating and Clothing Design & Construction. Inscape students have a 93% employment rate with graduates practicing design all over the world. |
