On a boiling hot summers afternoon, probably one of the hottest days since the great depression, the IID Gauteng region got all snazzed up in sizzling little outfits to celebrate another fantastic year. The bubbly flowed like the river Styx, and the food was straight from mount Olympus. Indeed all that was missing was a couple of Greek gods! The venue: Mastroantonia Hydepark. The occasion: The IID Gauteng Christmas Party.
Although we only numbered 50 strong, the company was merry and we celebrated, feasted and conversed well into the night. It goes without saying that the catalyst of any great evening is delectable fare, and here Goran, the owner of Mastroantonia’s, did not fail to impress. From Bruschetta Mata to Spiedino di Gamberi and Segale Pollo every taste was catered for, and soon guests were congregated around the feasting altar worshipping the magical hands that created this miraculous spread. With hunger sated the evening turned into a night which will be remembered for splendid repartee and the occasional toast to friendship, the future and (always) the IID.
Of course a Christmas Party will not be a Christmas Party without the exchange of some gifts, and here too the IID did not fail to impress. To make things fair, we had a lucky draw where guests stood to win one of five fantastic prizes. These were:
5th Prize – a bottle of Cruve Bubbly
4th Prize – miniature Pasha Chair kindly sponsored by Peter JA Stuart
3rd Prize- 1 year membership to the IID
2nd Prize – 100% Pure Cotton Luxury Hammock kindly sponsored by Simple Abundance
1st Prize – a fantastic rebranding by Question Branding to the value of R10,000.00
The draw took place after the food was served and we would like to congratulate all of the winners, especially Dean Armstrong from Ergo Systems who was our grand prize winner. We would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the sponsors of the prizes, your valued contribution helped make the event the success that it was.
Special mentions needs to go to Leigh-Anne Shillaw who was the driving force behind the IID Gauteng Christmas Party. Her dedication to the IID is the heartbeat that makes our institute the extraordinary body that it is. Thank you Leigh-Anne, we are extremely appreciative of all your efforts and look forward to a wonderful year ahead with you onboard.
All in all the party was even hotter than the blistering temperature of a Gauteng summer’s day. Thanks to all who took the time and made the effort to join us, and we look forward to seeing you all at our future events.
