THE IID HOUSE
BUILD-UP
The challenge of transforming the IID
exhibition stand at Grand Designs Live
into a memorable and inspiring reality
proved to be an easy task for our
project manager and construction team.
The IID House was constructed by 369
Degree Exhibitions under the guidance
and project management of Leigh-Anne
Shillaw of Simple Abundance Projects.
The pioneering project conceptualized by
the IID, Grand Designs and our 5
tremendous designers took 4 days to
construct. The interior of the house
measured 125m2 with the exterior garden
designed by J Bax De Keating Landscapes
brining the total size of the exhibition
stand to 135m2.
The construction team was presented with
a brief of creating a life size home
that tackled many of the designing
challenges facing home owners today. The
open plan three room house combined the
innovative products of our sponsors to
deliver a truly tactile experience.
Freeworld Coatings – Plascon, Earthcote
and Midas supplied the designers with an
inventive range of paints that allowed
for each room to portray an individual
character. The textured walls feed
harmoniously into the distinctive
surface of the Quartz Carpet flooring
that flowed melodiously from the
exterior of the house into the kitchen,
dining room, living room, bathroom and
passage. The laminate flooring of the
study, second bedroom and main bedroom
further enhanced the different textures
and styles displayed throughout the
house. The lighting plan ensured that a
tranquil and pleasant atmosphere
streamed through the house with the
latest in light fittings supplied by
Radiant lighting and electrical.
Once the amazing stand was erected it
was up to our designers to turn our
house into a home.
